Gibson Mastertone RB-5

Originally a plectrum banjo, now fitted with a 5-string neck made by Richie Dotson of Virgina. The rim started out as a Ball-Bearing arch top, but was changed by Gibson at the factory to a 40 hole archtop before being sold. I am led to believe this was a fairly common practice. Original hardware, including the "Vibrato Tone-Master" armrest-activated mute. The resonator was refinished and the metalwork re-plated sometime in the last 30 years. According to Joe Spann, only ten 40-hole archtops were made. Non original HSC. The banjo is located in Texas.
