From the collection of one of the UK's finest tenor banjoist. High grade maple throughout. Tubaphone tonering, 28 piece flange, inlaid piecrust resonator, ebony fingerboard, with highly ornate pearl inlays. The peghead is profusely inlaid and the back of the peghead is inlaid with the Vega star. Hand carved heel and a pearl inlaid heel cap. Original Oettinger tailpiece and original armrest. One of the tuners has been replaced but is an exact replacement albeit nickel rather than gold. All hardware is gold plated with the exception of the afore mentioned tuner. Vegaphones are classic jazz banjos and were used by many of the New Orleans players, including Lawrence Marrero and Emanuel Sayles. Perfect action with that incomparable Vega tone. SSC.
