Gibson Mastertone RB4
On Consignment. Instrument is with its owner.
Mahogany neck, maple rim, 'Honduran Mahogany' resonator with two concentric purfling rings on the back, two-piece flange, ball bearing tone ring, grooved tension hoop with flat hooks, nickel plating, Kirshner tailpiece, fiddle-shaped peghead, hearts and flowers inlay, and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. An unusual feature of this banjo is the presence of "Mastertone" in individual letters on the peghead rather than in a mother-of-pearl block on the fingerboard. The peghead placement of the Mastertone logo is normally seen only in banjos produced in 1925, the first year of the Mastertone line. Indeed this particular banjo was the second Gibson Mastertone RB4 ever made. Comes with the original Gibson tension key and Gibson mute, plus an assortment of old tortoiseshell picks, plus a receipt from when it was purchased in Croydon (London) in the late 1940's. Untouched from new. Extremely rare. Offers please. Photos
